Christmas Caroling 2011

When Christmas time rolls around, it's natural for people of goodwill to make an effort to spread the spirit of the season.

For the members of the SUA&F, an additional motivation is the opportunity to enhance the Filipino Heritage Collection at the Mira Mesa Library thus serving our community as well.

Caroling this Christmas season was the best means by which both objectives of service could be achieved.

A plan was put in place where we would have three "practice" sessions followed by three "performance" caroling sessions.

It did not take long to realize we needed the practice sessions.

Time to blend our voices and to synchronize the instruments such as the flute, the piano, the maracas and the SUA&F invented instrument called the "Tanoliv."

We caroled three times and each sessions was characterized by a lot of fun and sumptuous food at the end of each caroling session.

First night, Bonette & Romy Cruspero served a lot of yummy dishes highlighted by lechon

The second night Amelia Buluran had a spread fit for a king. She had this special noodles, chicken dish, green vegetable, salad, ham and more.

On the third night, Rebecca and Rosben Majam had a special pancit dish that she prepared for us.

Every home we caroled offered irresistible treats and needless to say, "there goes my diet resolution":

To recognize all those who were in the choral ensemble, let me start with the music director/pianist Laarni conductress Ligaya, Sean our flutist, Cory our soloist, John B and Nate in their guitars, Frank and Grace shaking the maracas, Amelia, Alma, Sonia, Priscy and Joel with their melodious voices and Fely and her "Tanoliv".

Caroling is a very rewarding activity during the Christmas seasons.

Resurrecting memories of Christmas pasts, listening to stories of remarkable experiences, lifting the spirits of those who have lost mobility to the passage of time, the weight gains in the exercise of taste buds, these rewards pale in comparison to the feeling of contentment and fulfillment derived from giving of oneself to the reason for the season.

Merry Christmas!! to each and everyone and a Prosperous New Year!! to all.
