SUAF Founder's Day Picnic 2011
Hello Everyone,
It was a pleasure to see all of you at the picnic yesterday. Thank you for coming.
We missed those that couldn't make it . . . . . a fraction of their lives has been lost (perhaps?!) for not experiencing it. Here are the reasons why:
- Perfect weather to enjoy the day.
- Plenty of food - hot, delicious and varied; lots of it than you can imagine; all-you-can-eat
- C-r-r-unchy lechon - Cooked the Bisaya way
- Highlight of the day was the presence of our guests and new officers from the LA chapter
- Farewell to our colleague, Miriam Tan Cole and her family who will be relocating to Rhode Island
- Birthday celebration for our August celebrants - Mila, Boy, Gaya, Frank
- Mahjong sessions - No Winners/No Losers (too cheap to bet a penny)
- Line dancing starring Alma representing San Diego
- Business meeting for the LA BOD - Who says you can't mix business with pleasure?
- Pictures and more pictures for everyone - Can't have enough!! Must be Filipinos!
- Competitive game between the adults and the youth; A wet finish win for the adults!
- Special delivery of the much-awaited SD banner by Faith and Hope - where's Love?
Thank you Grace and Nate for organizing the picnic; to the members who brought in the food; for Frank for waking up as early as 4 pm to reserve the gazebo and beat the homeless for first come first served; for Fely for the artistic poster she made for Miriam; for Pastor and Mila for the tables and chairs and biko; for Cory and Boy for the out-of-this-world cheesecake (you can actually scream the effect of eating it); for Manny for the table and sternos (can we have them again next time!); for JB and Alma for the mahjong set and cassava cake; for Efren and Prescy for the tinola (nobody beats Efren's tinola); for the kids who joined in the games; for the line dancers who masterfully memorized the steps; the delicious lechon to die for and delivered on time; for Precy, her arms full of the requested dinuguan, lobster roll, chicken teriyaki; for Ben Sy for leading the games (he doesn't seem to run out of ideas); for Amy and her salt/pepper chicken wings gone in seconds; special bibingka from Joji from LA. There was beef steak, white and brown rice, pancit, spaghetti, adobo, lumpia, egg-rolls, pepper steak, salad, etc. If I missed anyone or anything, please let me know.
The bond between SD and LA chapters couldn't be better and stronger than ever. A tradition has begun, that is, a standing invitation for both chapters to attend each other's fundraisers, picnics, and what not. Coming up is the induction of the new officers from LA on Sept. 24, 2011. Yay!!
It was nice to see everyone holding hands together as Pastor led the prayer. Each one introduced themselves and the years they graduated from high school and college (one started as a kinder - a true Silliman bred ) - and what a reveal to find out who's older, maybe wiser!
Thank you! Until next time!
