In Memoriam

          

The Rev. Dr. Zosimo Jadloc, first president of our SUAF @ SD, died on July 21, 2008 in San Diego after coping with lingering illness.

He was born in Basey, Western Samar on April 4, 1932. He completed his Bachelors Degree in Theology at Silliman University Divinity School in 1956. He attended the SU Graduate School where he earned his Masters in Sociology. Pursuing advanced studies at the SU Divinity School he was awarded the Masters of Divinity in 1965. He also received his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of the Philippines in Diliman.

He taught Sociology, history and anthropology at UP Cebu city campus. While in Cebu city, he was also one of the ministers at the Christian Center Church for twenty years. He was the youngest Conference Ministers in the history of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines at age 25.

He was an authority in setting up cooperatives in the Philippines. He authored a book in this area which we have a copy at the Mira Mesa Library of which is part of the SUAF Philippine Heritage Collection for the community.

He married Silliman Alumna Sofia Pelias and raised two daughters and two sons. Dr. Jadloc was a good husband, father and grandfather. He was an excellent counselor, benefiting not only to his students, church members and colleagues but also his family members and friends.

The family left for the Philippines to lay Rev. Dr. Zosimo Jadloc to rest in his home town.Together with the family, we all share our deepest sympathy and feeling of loss of a fine Christian Sillimanite.
