President's Message
Coming a Long Way
What a start for 2011! It's only been six months and many things have already been happening to SUAF@SD that are significant. These are some of the best moments that our chapter has ever experienced. We couldn't be prouder for what we have accomplished.
For one, the installation of the new officers in February was a huge success. It was the event of the century to many. A profit of $4,000 was unprecedented. The event also helped us to reconnect with old acquaintances, meet new friends, and more importantly, it opened the doors for us to be visible to the community.
The visit of President Ben Malayang to our chapter and to the city of San Diego for the very first time was another high point. No stone was left unturned during its preparations; we prepared one of the best itineraries for the president's visit.
At long last, reaching out to the community has been revived this time. We've involved ourselves in cleaning up the San Diego River. There was the Bantay Bata 163 drive where Copao and ABS/CBN sought our participation. We also had the Souplantation fundraiser to benefit Ronald McDonald House.
Earlier this year, the committees of SUAF were formed and started working on their plans for the organization, hence, new fundraisers were launched; scrip fundraising continued; membership increased with the addition of 18 members and social activities and field trips for the members were scheduled. Other activities included visits to sick members and helping members relocate.
As we head halfway towards the end of the year, there will be a lot more going and a lot more teamwork expected. It proves to show how cohesive and dynamic we are as an organization.
Thank you everyone for your support. God bless us all.
