A Tribute to Manny Narvaez
It's an honor to have known Manny. For the 3 short years I've known him, I've developed this fondness and affinity of his true character. He was like an older brother to me, quiet and gentlemanly. He was a man of few words. He hardly participated in group discussions. He would rather get busy and do something that was more productive of his time. He will be forever known as Mr. Lechon Guy. He was an artist in carving the lechon. He made sure everybody got their fair share to enjoy the crunchy skin and the tender meat of the lechon and take some home. Nobody was ever disappointed.
Manny was generous and thoughtful. He always shared what he had - from noodles, bread, huge trash bags to fresh lemons from his backyard. When it was Frank's turn to reserve the picnic area in the early morning hours, Manny offered his truck and tables to alert anyone that the place was reserved.
I had some memorable moments with Manny. One of the pastimes at retirement for Manny and Fely was to visit casinos and eat lobster buffets for free. Together with Oswald, Tenette and Frank, we went along in one of those visits for a great time which also brought luck to some of us.
During my inauguration as president of SUAF@SD in February of 2011, Manny showed his support by attending the event despite the fact that he was not in perfect health to withstand an anticipated long night. His presence was greatly appreciated.
A special moment with Manny was celebrating our birthdays together in April with friends in his home. It was Manny's last birthday and it will be forever remembered.
Thank you Manny for the memories. Thank you for being steadfast with our organization.
God Bless You,
Gularek Family - Laarni, Frank and Sean
